Jeanne d'Arc small Handbag
Never has a peasant woman created such a stir. They say that she was illiterate. At the tender age of 13, she had her first vision, which revealed the mission she would have to carry out, leading the French forces to expel the English army and crown Prince Charles as king. A few years later she began her 60 km walk to find Commander Robert de Baudricourt. After several attempts, she convinced him to present her to the heir apparent to the throne, Carlos. And so at only 17 years old, dressed as a soldier with recently cut hair, she persuaded Carlos to give her armor and entrust her with a battalion of five thousand men. Jeanne fulfilled her mission. The English were driven from French territory and a few months later King Charles VII of France was crowned. But Jeanne continued to lead her squad, banner in hand until she was captured and handed over to the English. Jeanne was tried by an ecclesiastical court and accused of witchcraft because of the voices in her head, which, according to the English, came from the devil himself. Jeanne defended the divinity of the voices that guided her, which led her to be burned at the stake on May 30, 1431, in the old market square of Rouen. 25 years later, thanks to the efforts of King Carlos VII, Pope Calixto III absolved her of all charges. In 1909 she was beatified, and in1920, sanctified and proclaimed patron of France.
